It is a well known that The United States justice system is one in fact that is degrading with every single solitary second that passes by. Each year the percentage of innocent individuals who are prosecuted and incarcerated for crimes they did not commit rises producing numbers of such ridiculous heights. Adnan Syed, a prime example of the ugly truths behind our justice system, At the age of 17 was accused and declared guilty of the murder of his girlfriend Hae Min Lee simply off of the story of his supposed best friend which was changed multiple times it was told. It was because of this story that Adnan was has been in prison for 17 years and counting. Without a single piece of evidence a man was placed to rot in jail. In this Ted Talks Adam Foss, a prosecutor, sheds light on a factor in the justice system that is constantly overlooked by far too many. That factor is the Prosector. Adam speaks on how the prosecutor is the most important and influential person in the court and that no one not even the president could tell them on how to prosecute an individual. Justice starts with the prosectors. They are the ones who must work to harder to help people in the court system rather than too have them leave lacking the helping hand and being placed in federal prisons all over the country with very little understanding on how to turn their lifes around. The methods of prosecution are outdated and need a reestablishment for the greater good of the people of America so people such as Adnan Syed may have a fighting chance
